About This Site
Now Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron …offered strange fire before the LORD… And fire came out from the presence of the LORD and consumed them, and they died before the LORD. Then Moses said to Aaron, “It is what the LORD spoke, saying, ‘By those who come near Me I will be treated as holy, And before all the people I will be honored.’” - Lev 10
Strange-BaptistFire (SBF) will endeavor to provide an official response and scriptural rebuttal to the writings found at the website BaptistFire.com. We will attempt to have an open and honest discussion about the issues raised and the claims made by the authors of BaptistFire.com. Though not limited to one subject alone, the main topic of discussion will surround the issue of Calvinism within the Southern Baptist Convention.
The contributors here at SBF follow and promote the historic Baptist understanding of God’s sovereign grace in salvation, and will actively seek to quench the “strange” BaptistFire being offered up as truth in many of our modern Baptist churches. We will seek to do this through the means of charitable discussion/debate, and most importantly, through the study of the Holy Scriptures and church history.
Please take note of a few rules:
1. Comments will be allowed for the purpose of providing accountability to the writings of each contributor. Comments that both agree and disagree are welcome, but please stay within the parameters of charitable Christian conversation. Let us all take heed to what is commanded in Ephesians 4:29:
“Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.”
2. Comments with hateful, unwholesome words will not be allowed.
3. Anonymous comments will not be allowed. If you lack the courage to voice your convictions publicly, it is best to search the scriptures more diligently before you comment.
4. Trolling will not be allowed. That is, those who deceitfully assume a false alias in order to remain anonymous will have their comments deleted.
5. Stay on-topic with all comments. Other issues concerning the contributors can be communicated through email.
Please remember that the goal of all doctrine and theology is that we may know our Lord and God, delight in who He is, obey Him, and praise Him for His grace and salvation which He accomplished on our behalf. Our prayer on your behalf is that: “the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might which He brought about in Christ…”
